Love

There is no greater commandment than these (Mark 12:31):

Jesus replied: "
`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  This is the
first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it:
`Love your neighbor as yourself.'  All the Law and the Prophets
hang on these two commandments."  - Mt. 22:37-40 (NIV)

If you do not love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, body, soul and strength, and if you do not love your neighbor as
yourself, then you are disobeying the greatest commandment of God.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever
believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the
name of God's one and only Son.  This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light
because their deeds were evil.  Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will
be exposed.  But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been
done through God."  - Jn. 3:16-21  (NIV)

There is no greater love than this.  God loved the world so much, that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish, but have eternal life.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us
.  -Rom. 5:8

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one
another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.  And we have seen and testify that the Father
has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in
God.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
 “
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.  In this way, love is made complete among us so that we
will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love
drives out fear,
because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
We love because he first loved us.  If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love
his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.  And he has given us this command:
Whoever loves
God must also love his brother.
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.  This
is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.
This is love for God: to
obey his commands.
And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the
victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.  Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the
Son of God.”   – 1 Jn 4:11-5:5  (NIV)

God is love and if you live in love, God lives in you.  If you love God, you must also love others and obey His commands.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord
.”  – Rom. 8:38-39  (NIV)

Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  The only thing that will separate us
from Him is - Sin.
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he
will not hear.”
–Isa.59:2  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Rom. 6:
23
Nothing in all creation can separate you from His love, but sin is the only thing that will separate you from Him.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his
one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us
and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
   – 1 Jn. 4:7-11  (NIV)

God is love and whoever does not love, does not know God.  He sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins – this is love!

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have
the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains,
but have
not love
, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain
nothing.”  – 1 Cor. 13:1-3  (NIV)

Nothing in all creation counts except LOVE.  “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?”
- Mt. 16:26  Love is the most important thing in this life, and it is what we will be judged for – Did we love?

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of
the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were
called-- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”  –Eph. 4:2-6
(NIV)

No matter what the situation, we must make every effort to be completely humble, gentle, and patient.  We must bear whatever
happens in love one for another.   In this way we walk in unity and in peace, knowing that we are all part of one body – one
hope and one faith.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.” -1 Pe. 4:8   He who has been
forgiven much, loves much (Luke 7:47).

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not
rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does
not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.    –1 Cor. 13:4-7  (NIV)

This is what love is – GOD IS LOVE and we must live in love.  He loved you so much that HE GAVE HIS SON to die for you,
to atone for your sins.  If you’ve
repented of your sins, confessed with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
“For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with
your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
–Rom. 10:9-11  (NIV)

Therefore, in all things walk in love – for God is love and if He is in you, then you will LOVE!
